| |X| Disavowed Dropped To The Bottom Of OGL TDM 6v6 Ladder |
| 11.23.04 (4:59 pm) [edit] |
|X| Disavowed was sporting a 15 - 6 record & holding rung #3 as recently as Nov 6th. Less then three weeks and 3 forfeits later |X| Disavowed found itself at the bottom of the OGL TDM 6v6 ladder and then off the ladder all together. Timber and Flashgirl have left the clan. What in hades is going on over at |X|?

| {RSHA_X} Removed from all OGL Competition |
| 11.23.04 (4:50 pm) [edit] |
After having the opportunity to read and review all the opinions and evidence of this situation it is my humble opinion that a)If RSHA made the necessary efforts to clear the video settings with OGL prior to the match and OGL agreed then they are not guilty. b)If OGL did not approve the settings prior to the match or was misled by what they saw before the match and changed their minds after the match then heydrich and heydrich alone should be held accountable. Either way at best heydrich spent way too much on the video card and at worst he will go blind shortly if he continues to use that setting. All in all it is a mute point now that (RSHA_X) has been removed from all OGL ladder competition.

Match spectated by OGL-Smokin and MoH-ACTF member YellowClaw Upon completion of the match, both teams requested the others Reverend zip files. Stones=VX9= inspected the player files and filed the dispute based on the player screen shots. Quote from the email dispute: "First guy is Heydrich. His ss's are very strange, as if there is a texture enhancement going on. Lines are outlined and very defined. I spoke to Smokin and he stated that its a setting in the latest ATI drivers. We see this as a setting that is changing the games original settings for their enhancement and advantage". End Quote. Evidence: It should be noted that one of the members from RSHA asked about the setting on 11-14-04, submitted 1 screen shot and stated the Catalist Control panel has a setting for "sharpen image" that (Quote) "As you can see, it does not provide an advantage nor does it allow you to do anything illegal. It simply sharpens the lines on the walls." The screen shot was sent to Black Bart and he stated it wasn't anything to worry about. Upon review of Match screen shots, there is definate evidence of an unfair advantage to the point of cheating.

If variety is the spice of life, spice in MOHAA is spelled 33rdSS. They have a number of servers with all styles of play. Including single player maps modded for multi-player gaming. I asked thrillkill to give me a little background on the clan and he was happy to do so. Below is his response. And thank you for the new banner it looks great!
"Hi MOH truth sorry it's taken me more time than I hoped to get back to you. I checked out your site, some good coverage you have there. The single player map conversions are done by our official clan modder Ivan, all work is his property, I rework some of the maps myself but all brain work goes to ivan. Most of the work we do in clan isnt really released. I can make screenshots of the map if you like. The maps are extracted from the game files and reworked by hand, with modifications to spawn points, blocking potential holes for sharking, disabling enemies and some triggers, and turning it to a TDM mode. We dont do a straight conversion of a map we pick the most interesting part of the map and cordern off the part that will make for best gameplay. As for some background for my clan. We are a 2 and half year old clan, Im the only surving member of the 3 original founders. We basically felt left out without tags and created a clan. The number grew and grew, the simple premise of the whole clan was clean organised fun. The idea brought in more and more people. We never agreed with the concept of cheating and didn't like servers that that did, so we went from renting servers to renting out servers, with a quality control that ensure fair/fun gaming and cheat free. We have a dedicated Server Police team that skims all our servers to make sure the its all fun and fair. We also assist a lot of clans out there in the MOH world with set up with their servers. Our members hail from around the world, there are 33rds playing 24hrs a day. We enjoy some of the bussiet servers in MOH, I believe we are ranked #1 in the world now. We have even had spin off 33rd Tshirts, trading cards. And now we offer custom built 33rd SS 64bit gaming machines for sale too. We hope to keep our little corner of MOH clean, fun and fair. Feel Free if you need any more info about us, I would like to advertise you on our site if thats okay also I have created a banner for your page. Best of luck to your work" 33rd SS thrillkill

| {RSHA} vs ={DMG}= |
| 11.17.04 (5:29 am) [edit] |
After a controversial loss to =(DMG)= last night of 36 - 34 {RSHA) has requested deletion from the 6v6 TDM ladder on OGL. They had been undefeated at (13 - 0) and ranked #1 before this match. Below is an explanation (From ={DMG}= Ashe)of what happened in the match which led to the outcome of what looks like an awesome match. I will not post my opinion of the outcome until I have heard from both sides. I know this will be a volatile subject so please stick to the facts and keep the use of profanity to a minimum.
(BOTH POINTS OF VIEW ARE STATED BELOW BY BOTH CLANS)
***In my opinion after looking at the situation from both perspectives an imperfection in MOHAA allowing telefragging and unlcear rules in OGL are no way to win a match. The second round should be replayed.
"What happened, exactly, is this. We lost the first round of a two round match by a score of 1-0.
After the first round is played, there is one "hard" restart, then three soft restarts, then the match is live. After the initial hard restart, two of our players, myself and DMG Edward Penishands, spawned in exactly the same spot at exactly the same time. This is called a telefrag. It is completely out of the control of the players and in my opinion is a flaw in Mohaa. It is exceptionally rare, but I have seen it happen several times, especially on Algiers.
As soon as it happened, I informed the other team as to what had happened. I stated that the kill does not count. They saw it happen as well, so they knew it did not count.
After the telefrag, our score was -1 to 0. Then there were the two "soft" restarts. Soft restarts do not reset the score. So at the actual start of the match, the scoreboard showed the match as -1 to 0, but the actual score was 0-0. RSHA knew this, cause I told them of this and they should of known it on their own as well.
We ended up winning the second round by a score of 35-34 on the scoreboard, but when you add in the telefrag death, we won by a score of 36-34. Thus giving us a total win of 36-35 over the two rounds. RSHA did not want to see it this way, but the OGL did.
So when Doc says that we won on a technicallity, in truth, we almost lost on a technicality, we won on score. The technicality was the telefrag, that is an error in Mohaa that there is no control over." =(DMG)= Ashe
_________________________ _________________
The following is a quote from Druid off the ={DMG}= forums...
"Seeing as how other people put their two cents in, I might as well too.
If anyone follows the forums on OGL, you may remember I have suggested 3 separate times that Disputes should be made public after they are ruled on. Otherwise you always end up with what we have here. People talking out their ass, by either not knowing the facts or purposely mis-stating them.
Before anyone says that I'm taking sides, I just want to point out I have helped about 10 separate teams with match problems or disputes during the two years MOB has been on OGL. In fact, it wasn't that long ago I helped a RSHA members when something showed up in another's teams screenshots from a match.
Someone mentioned it was losing a dispute that caused DMG to leave the ladder last time. I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure the dispute never was ruled on. The dispute lasted 3 weeks over something as simple as the other team didn't send in their match screenshots. After two weeks ashe took it to the OGL forum. Where he was finally told if you don't like how long it takes to rule on a dispute, you don't have to play here. Ashe is his round about way said "Fuck you" and DMG left. Someone from DMG please correct me if I'm wrong.
Now we come to the actual dispute. Even though RSHA TheDoc is quick to claim the score was 44-35 in RSHA's favor and DMG won on a dispute. He was just as quick to forget to mention that score was from overtime which didn't need to be played.
Here is what it all comes down to.
[image]MohTruth_95960679.jpg[/image]
You can see by the screenshot it happened before MW even told players to join the teams and prior to the match starting. Now RSHA can claim it was during the match ( using match in the widest possible terms ). Fact is, I think most people on OGL know and accept the fact each round in a match last 20 minutes, not 20 minutes and 20 seconds by including the restarts. If we are suddenly suppose to include the restarts and anything that happens prior to the final restart where MW says the match is hot. Then I have a question, lets extend Rsha's reasoning out a little further. Prior to matches actually starting, most people are goofing around shooting each other. So what would happen if for some reason Matchwatch failed to do the initial hard restart on the map and only did 3 soft restarts and players scores where not reset? Should the players scores be included from the time everyone was goofing around waiting for the match to start? I would say No and I think most people would agree. Well thats pretty much sums up Rsha's or at least Doc's claim that this was a bogus dispute and DMG won on a technicality. The only bogus technicality I see is Doc claiming the -1 score DMG started the 2nd round with should count for the round.
What should of happened was the map restarted so their would be no questions and no reason for a dispute. RSHA was running MW, it's unfortunate that they didn't discuss what happened and decide to restart the round when it happened.

{RSHA_X} Heydrich's response to the controversy.
For the record, we are retiring the clan tag because we accomplished our goals....#1 on 6v6, 4v4, and 2v2. We debated when to retire and decided that when one of the teams lost that would be it.
Are we being "chased off the ladders"...definately not. LMAO.
Here is our "version":
Well,
Noone but Ashe was correct.....and he was only correct from his point of view. The rules quotes from Ashe and Druid are incorrect...and I will explain (I will not participate in a flame war):
I'll place our view (and OGL's) on the table and everyone can decide for themselves.
OGL Rule 6.1 A Team Match consists of (2) two, (20) twenty minute halves or rotations of the map selected for the match. Unless otherwise agreed to in the match comments, the first half will be played with the challenger as Axis, and the challenged as Allied. For the second half the challenger will play as Allied, and the challenged as Axis. Both teams are required to take screen shots of the final scores from each half. The winner of the match will be the team with the greater total number of kills.
Key fact: The winner of the match will be the team with the greater total number of kills. The game reports the total accumulation of kills and deaths.
OGL Rule 4.2 Starting the Match: Prior to starting a match all players should be on the server and verified by MatchWatch as using Reverend. At this point both team captains communicate that they are ready to start. The server admin will then execute the start command to MatchWatch. The match is officially started with MatchWatch console broadcasts the message "SERVER IS LOCKED."
Key fact: The match is officially started with MatchWatch console broadcasts the message "SERVER IS LOCKED."........ NOT WHEN THE MATCH STATES IT IS "HOT".
Ruling by Smokin:
If a "telefrag" or other team kill had happened after "Live", the score would count. Win awarded to DMG. Final srores 35-34
What he is saying is that if the match was active....the -1 would stick. His idea of when the match starts is at *hot*. This is wrong. It starts way before that. We appealed the fact that Smokin was in error based upon Rule 4.2 stating that the match starts at *locked* and Atrus agreed....BUT, were we awarded the point because the kill was after the *live*....nope...yet Atrus agreed with us:
Quote from Atrus:
"I understand that Smokin made an error is his statement, but this does not change the nature of the ruling(s). Rule 4.2 states, "The match is officially started when MatchWatch console broadcasts the message SERVER IS LOCKED." It cannot be more obvious that this rule establishes that the beginning of regulation play occurs when MatchWatch broadcasts the message, "SERVER IS LOCKED." This rule was designed in consideration of events such as pre hot kills, and telefrags. The broadcast of "Match is Hot," simply designates the beginning of the 20 minute rounds.
In the timeline of this match "={DMG}=ashe was telefragged by ={DMG}= EDWARD PENISHANDS" occurred after the console message, "SERVER IS LOCKED," and between, "console: PREPARING TO BEGIN THE BATTLE - 2 RESTARTS TO FOLLOW - MATCH HOT ON 20 SECONDS!" and "console: MATCH IS HOT ..... MATCH IS HOT." This clearly places the anomaly within regulation play and adversely affecting the final score of the round."
Now, knowing the history regarding a telefrag and when and where it comes into play according to OGL and understanding that the "anomoly" (a telefrag) was indeed valid as a -1 point in the eyes of the OGL which would result in a tie score.....this leads to:
Quote from Atrus:
The telefrag counts as a -1 for DMG. Therefore, to correct (zero out) the score caused by the telefrag +1 must be given to DMG.
The 1st round was 1-0 (RSHA) The 2nd round was 34-35 (DMG) +1 pt for DMG to offset the telefrag Final Score 35-36 {DMG}
This leads to the Appeal by {RSHA_X}:
Show me in the rules where it states that the telefrag needs to be compensated for with a +1. I am not privy to your "intent" with the creation of the rules, I just know what is written. Your intent does not translate to what is written. By adding that one point you have orally and theoretically restarted the map at 0-0. What you are failing to take into account with that process of thinking is the match was already played; and that the {RSHA_X} played the match based upon the score as *reported by the game*. You are changing the game statistics and the way it was played *after the fact*. You are creating a type of paradox by changing the history of the match. That is an excersize in mathmatics rather than what happened legally and historically.
Irregardless of when the telefrag happened, it was part of the cumulative score. Are you trying to tell me that if it happened in the middle of a match (10:00) that it would still be compensated for with a +1?
The second half of that match should be replayed and I know you think so also. The rulings contained errors, the teams played under false assumptions based upon their interpretations of the rules, the game reporting reported a tie, and the fact that a +1 to even the score *after the game has been played* is the same as awarding a bonus kill to one team and not the other.
Atrus, this doesn't look good. How do you add points that don't exist after the game was played? The game did not report that 1 point and it was not earned by our opponent. You can't say to just zero the match by adding +1 because it directly contradicts 2 rules and nulls the "in game" reporting of the score after the fact.
This is so convoluted. I am dumbfounded at how grey this area is and that a match for #1 would not be based upon the battle but a big hole in the system. Our opponent did not defeat us, the system did.
Reply from Atrus:
As previously noted the rules simply cannot literally describe every contingency, and administrative discretion is permitted in disputes of this nature. Again, it is a question of FAIR PLAY. How would you feel if you began "the battle" 1 point down due to no fault of your own? I'm sure you would dispute as well if that single point made the difference between winning and losing.
Based on the evidence the final score of 35 to 36 in favor of DMG is valid, and I consider this matter closed.
{RSHA_X} Final Response:
"For the record, I have started a match in the negative due to telefragging, I have also been snagged under leaning rocks that cause a death in Destroyed Village due to map fixes that cause damage, I have been telefragged in the middle and end of a match, I have pushed to use a ladder...I have never disputed because of these reasons and have certainly never based a match victory on these "anomalies" because I wanna say "they don't count".
Our opponent did not defeat us. The system did. As far as I and several other clans are concerned, we remain undefeated.
The deletion of the {RSHA_X} clan from the ladders is subject to vote within the clan and every active member will need to register with their input prior to any decision being forwarded to the OGL. Majority vote will rule.
I will keep you informed.
Regards,
Heydrich.
**Summary:
A single point not earned by our opponents was awarded to DMG by Atrus in order zero out the match AFTER IT WAS PLAYED to win the match in direct conflict with their own rules and what the OGL stated to be true....The {RSHA_X} tied the game and won in overtime.
Our opponent did not defeat us. The system did. As far as I and several other clans are concerned, we remain undefeated.
DMG, congratulations on your awarded (not earned) win. Good for you. I would say do it again, but you never really did it the first time, so I say the the {RSHA_X} is still around...I am am looking for you to come out and play like a man and see if you can win a battle, not a political abortion. See you on the ladder."

Stopped by RVG for a few rounds this past week. Lots of new faces. Holly, Prozac, am I not Merciful & TheMightyTim. And I must say I was impressed with the improved atmosphere in their server.
So if you've had a bad experience in the past with RVG give them another shot. They are working hard to shed the bad image of the past.
Thanks for the efforts.
